Viewer Registration

Viewer registration allows for the catalog creator to ask, require and demand that a viewer register electronically before viewing the catalog.  Information requested can be name, address, resale tax number, phone number and/or E-mail address.  Since registration is completed via E-mail, the E-mail address is the only “required” field. All other fields can be selected to request information or not.  If information is not requested it will not be displayed on the information request screen.

ASK REGISTRATION

Ask Registration is a simple screen that “asks” the viewer to register.  The viewer can by-pass the screen and view the catalog without registering. If the viewer places an order the registration request screen will not appear again. If the viewer browses the catalog, but does not place an order, the registration request screen will keeping “nagging” the viewer to register until such time as viewer does register.

The Registration Screen is the first screen that will appear when the viewer opens the catalog for the first time.  It is pictured in R-1

R-1

When the registration process is complete the viewer would simply click on the register now button and the following screen will appear (see R-2).

R-2

The Send Registration screen displays information that the viewer has completed in the previous screen .  It allows the viewer to review their information and gives them the option to either E-mail the registration form or to go back to the previous screen (see R-1) to edit their information. If they elect to send the registration form, the following screen will be displayed (see R-3)

R-3

The Confirm screen advises the viewer “how” the e-mail registration will be sent and gives them the option to cancel the registration process or warn them to establish an internet connection if required.  If the viewer elects to proceed by clicking the OK button, the following screen will be displayed (R-4).

R-4

This completes the ASK Registration process. After clicking the OK button the catalog will go to the opening page.  The viewer will never be asked to “register” again as long as the viewer uses the same computer to view.

In the event of a catalog pass-on to another viewer, or if the existing viewer uses a different computer to view the catalog, they will be asked to register again.

The catalog company will receive the following E-mail registration (see R-5)

Require Registration

Require Registration is slightly more demanding and persistent than Ask Registration.  It has all of the features and options of Ask Registration, but the Registration Nag Screen will not disappear until such time as the viewer enters an unlock code that will be e-mailed to the viewer from the catalog company.

In this version of the Registration the user can bypass the “enter unlock code” message to go directly to the catalog.  Viewing is not restricted, but the Nag Registration screen will continue to be display after each opening until the unlock is entered.

The Viewer will register the same as in the Ask Registration, but the following screen will be displayed after the registration has been completed (see R-6).

R-6

If the viewer has received the unlock code at this point they can click on the Enter Unlock Code button and the screen displayed in R-7 will be presented. If the viewer clicks on the cancel screen they will automatically go to the opening page of the catalog.

R-7

The viewer is required to enter the unlock code and to click on OK.  If the code is accepted, the screen shown in R-8 will be displayed. The viewer can also elect to cancel the operation at this point by clicking on Cancel. If the code entered is Invalid or incorrect an error message will be display as in figure R-9.

R-8

Clicking on OK will allow the viewer to proceed to the opening screen of the catalog.

R-9

This screen can be bypassed by simply clicking on OK, and the viewer will again go directly to the opening page of the catalog.

Unlock Code

When the catalog is created, you can create a “master” unlock code that will open every catalog pressed from the files created.  At your option, the master code can be given to each viewer to unlock their catalog.

In addition to the master code, a unique viewer unlock code is also created for each viewer.  This code is computer specific with the unlock code being entered into the registry of the viewers computer. Once the master or unique code is entered the catalog will open when viewed on the specific computer.

Time Based Lockout

In addition to the a time based lockout scheme can be established at the time the catalog is created.  It can be used in conjunction with all of the registration types. When the catalog is created, you can establish a time period in days in which the catalog HAS to be registered.  The count down process begins the first day that the catalog is opened and is displayed at the top of the registration form (see R-10).

R-10

Each time the catalog is opened it will display the number of days left until you are required to register the catalog before opening it. When the designated number of days has expired the only option open to the viewer is to register the catalog. They will have the following screen displayed when they try to open the catalog (see R-11)

Demand Registration

Demand Registration requires that a viewer not only register, but they must also have received an unlock code before they can view the catalog.  This feature is highly restrictive and should only be used after careful thought. An example of where this feature maybe activated is where you have a restricted wholesale catalog and want to pre-qualify wholesale viewers before allowing them to open the catalog.

An additional application can be utilized if you want to publish both a retail and wholesale version of a catalog on the same disk. The viewer could easily view your retail version of the catalog (implementing Ask or Require Registration), but restricting access to the wholesale version of the catalog by implementing Demand Registration.

Functionally the viewer operational sequence is the same as the Require Registration, with the exception that the viewer cannot bypass the Enter Unlock Code Screen that can be seen in figure R-7.
